Believe it!

Naruto’s catchphrase in the anime series Naruto is one that I have heard time and time again (and got sick of hearing after 30+ episodes). That catchphrase is “believe it”! While this is something that is good in practice, I don’t think we want to go as far as to turn it into what some might call manifestation. However, this catchphrase brought up the question, do we believe it?

This past Sunday, our pastor at our church was giving us the 4 principles of Jesus as stated in the book of Matthew. The 4 principles are as follows.

  1. A Giving Heart

  2. Faith Works

  3. Paid in Full

  4. Inclusivity

All these four points can be seen throughout the four gospels and just in Jesus’s life in general. Jesus came to serve and not to be served (giving heart). He advised that those who are believers, must also act out on those beliefs (faith works). Jesus paid the ransom for our sins (paid in full). Lastly, Jesus does not exclude who can enter his Kingdom (inclusivity). With all these things, we still have a hard time believing and trusting Him that he will do what He says He will do. We tend to not have that childlike faith and instead have the “oh I believe, but mostly rely on my own understanding”.

Jesus said that he is the author of the beginning and the end, alpha and omega, Lord of all! I am not coming at you from a condemning standpoint because I am in the same boat as relying mostly on my own understanding. However, this is a daily journey and each day I encourage you to believe who God says He is, more and more. He knows our desires and is the Father we didn’t know that we need it. So as Naruto says “believe it”!
