I'm Okay....on the Outside

Have you ever felt that you were putting on a facade for others? I think I can safely say that we have all done that at different points in our lives. We go to work, put on a fake smile. We go to school and reply with "going good" when asked. We go to family gathering and respond with "everything is fine". The list of scenarios goes on. However, are we afraid of showing what is inside?
Most of the time, how I am feeling on the inside will show on the outside. Most of the time it is positive. Other times it is more negative. Rebecca can usually tell when I am this way and vice versa with her. I am no good at hiding it and maybe that is a good thing. Growing up, I thought that I was being an inconvenience if I showed others my true feelings of what was going on inside of me. Anxiety and worrying all the time would bottle that most of the time it would end up with me just caving in and having a downward spiral. But then I learned something that helped me with this.
Well it was actually something that Rebecca started using in her discipling. It is called Plumbline. Essentially you take your thoughts and statements and go through it in this order.
-What are my thoughts?
-What does these thoughts say about me?
-What does these thoughts say about God?
This allows you to process your thoughts and see the truth behind the lies that the enemy tries to bring. This helped me immensely and going through why I was worried and to bring my focus back to God.This falls in line with the series we will be talking about on the podcast this week.
We are discussing the anime series Orange, and it is a rollercoaster of emotions and for good reason. The main character of Kakeru is bearing a heavy burden on himself that he doesn't let anyone else know about. He laughs and jokes like everything is okay, but the inside reveals the deeper truth. With the help of Naho, Sua and others, Kakeru sees that his burden is a lot to carry alone.
Have you ever like me or Kakeru? If you are dealing with a heavy burden, I urge to know go at it alone.
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved" Psalm 55:22
Meditate on these words and seek out a friend group or a licensed counselor to help you go through these thoughts and discover the truth behind the lies.
