Supernatural Month

It is October and that means Halloween! What’s that you say? Why is a “so-called” Christian website/podcast, talking about Halloween? Well to be clear, as Christians we don’t really celebrate Halloween in a traditional sense.
Dressing up, handing out candy, carving jack-o-lanterns and the like is perfectly fine and we have no objection to. What we do hold objection is the supernatural things such as the occult, Ouija boards, demon summoning, etc…. It is important to be aware of these things so that we know how to combat that when we encounter them.
These things may seem harmless and appealing if you are not aware, but it goes deeper than we realize. It is like when I use to watch a ton of scary movies back in college. I grew desensitized to all the gore, occult practices and the demonic aspects that were in a lot of the films. I watched them because…well to be scared or get a nice thrill. What I was getting into was training my mind to normalize this type of stuff and brush it off as just pure entertainment. However, by the grace of God, I didn’t fall too far down the rabbit hole.
On our podcast this month, we will be talking about some animation that deals with the supernatural. We ask and encourage you to take a listen. We will be discussing the above through a Biblical lens.
During the month of October and a time where (to me anyways) the spiritual realm seems heightened, ponder on these words from the book of first Peter.
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8).
